Serving as a laboratory for a larger creative community, the RISD Museum encourages new design methods through experimentation, iteration, and collaboration. Using the collection as the source material for innovation, our work manifests through our in-house design studio, multimedia production, exhibition design, and publications.
Building off of the creative energy and rigorous investigation that happens at a school of art and design, we strive to rethink how work gets done with attention to both process and execution, emphasizing the formation of ideas through making.
We view collaboration as a critical activity to our process and work with students and faculty, other leading design teams, and practitioners from all disciplines, perspectives, and backgrounds.
We believe in creating learning experiences such as design fellowships, internships, and other creative opportunities to allow new ideas to permeate the museum and support the development of emerging professionals.
