Marks: The verso has a title and description of the image and has the legend, "ICE CUTTING/The sturdy New Englander exulted in the cold, sharpened his saws when the thermometer went below zero and waited for the blue water to turn grey and thicken into ice. Thus it remained until the arrival of electricity, leaving the ice houses to fall into disuse with a vanishing industry.”
